There are unlimited fishing spots along Lake Tinaroo's 200 kilometre picturesque shoreline. The world record barramundi (121cm and 38.75kg) and the world record sooty grunter (5.45kg) have been caught in Tinaroo.
Barramundi can be caught all year round as this is a stocked impoundment that is not subject to seasonal closures, but November to March are best.
Other species include sleepy cod, archer fish, bony bream, saratoga, and silver perch, and recent releases of mangrove jack fingerlings will see them maturing as good target species over the next few years.
While shore fishing, particualrly in the drowned timber areas on the northern and eastern shores, is productive, visitors can also hire boats at Lake Tinaroo Terraces.
